Bucs Take Rubber Game 10-4 as the Bats Surge

The Pirates won this afternoon in a very offensive game. The bats came alive against starter Tanner Roark and the Nationals bullpen to score 10 runs. The Bucs took the game and the series from the team at the top of the NL East National League standings.

Roark gave up seven of the 10 runs in only 5 innings pitched, walking four and striking out three. The Nats bats produced two runs as two others were earned on an error. Daniel Murphy hit a solo home run to right in the 2nd. Trea Turner went 0-5 and Bryce Harper 0-4 with three strikeouts.

Tyler Glasnow struck out Harper twice and pitched well in his start for the Bucs. Glasnow went 5 innings giving up four runs (two earned), walking three and striking out six. He only gave up three hits and bounced back after a three run 4th. His bounce back start is very encouraging after his last in Arizona. The bullpen gave up no runs and three hits to close out the final 4 innings.

The Bucs bats started out strong with Josh Bell‘s two run blast in the first giving the team an early 2-0 lead. John Jaso also hit a homer to deep center for his third of the young season. Andrew McCutchen went 2-5 picking up two hits for the second straight day. Adam Frazier had a career dat with his first 4 RBI game raising his average to a strong .347.

The Bucs start a three game series with the Phillies tomorrow night at PNC Park. Jeremy Hellickson who is off to a strong start will start for Philadelphia against right hander Trevor Williams.
