The Pirates bats again could not produce enough runs to get a win for Gerrit Cole in last night 2-1 loss. It seems like us at North Shore Nine has been saying this a lot lately, because runs are just not being scored.
Zack Greinke of the Arizona Diamondbacks pitched a no hitter into the 8th and dominated the Bucs throughout the whole game. Greinke completed his night going 8 innings striking out 11 and only giving up one run. Jake Lamb and Brandon Drury drove in the only two two runs for Arizona providing the only offense needed.
Gregory Polanco recorded the only hit last night and it came on a solo blast off his bat in the 8th. It broke up Greinke’s no hitter and was Polanco’s first home run of the season. Francisco Cervelli struck out three times and John Jaso, Jose Osuna and Gift Ngoepe all struck out twice.
The Pirates look to get some sort of offense and snap their losing streak tonight playing the Diamondbacks in Arizona at 9:40. Patrick Corbin goes for Arizona against Pirates right hander Tyler Glasnow who has gotten a good bit of run support this season.
