Game 18: Let the Power Continue

After seeing a power surge for the first game of the series, Pittsburgh will look to continue to build from it. Yesterday saw a total of six homers, each team hitting three a piece. Tonight, the Pirates will play the Diamondbacks at Chase Field again with the first pitch scheduled for 8:10 PM.

Juan Nicasio will make his fourth start of the season. In the three starts made, we have seen estupendo Juan, espantoso Juan, and así así Juan. Go ahead, get out your translators for this one! However, its been a tale of three different pitchers that we have witnessed from Nicasio, but when he does have it all going we know the difference maker he can be for the club. For the season, Nicasio is 2-1 and does sport a 4.80 ERA. With tonights matchup, Arizona is making sure to bring out the big guns as Jake Lamb will be back in the lineup over Brandon Drury.

The Bucco’s lineup will also feature John Jaso again, but will also see a red hot Sean Rodriguez playing short in place of Jordy Mercer. The bats have not been much of an issue for the year, as Pittsburgh still holds the #1 team average and on base percentage in all of MLB. With the thinner air and friendly park that Chase Field is, there should be plenty of home run opportunities for this team once again. Along with the three that were hit, Andrew McCutchen took a ball about 410 feet that ended up being caught, and Marte took a few ropes over left field that was just foul.

Arizona will have Rubby De La Rosa pitching in the contest. De La Rosa has been a hyped prospect with the Red Sox organization and was brought to this club in a trade that sent Wade Miley to Boston. His career hasn’t lived much to his ceiling, as he owns a 4.62 career ERA. He works mainly with a fastball and slider but does feature a change up as well for his third pitch. Typically he sits around 94 MPH, but typically get hits pretty hard. Last year alone, he gave up 32 home runs in just 188 innings pitched.

  3. Freese 3B
  4. Marte LF
  5. Cervelli C
  6. Polanco RF
  7. Harrison 2B
