Pirates 6, D-Backs 4

Jose Osuna entered the game in the 7th inning as a questionable defensive replacement for Josh Bell, but Osuna proved worth the move as he crushed a two-run home run in the 10th inning to lead the Pirates to a 6-4 victory over the Diamondbacks. The 16-22 Pirates leave Arizona with a four-game split.

Ivan Nova started for the Bucs and pitched a quality start with three runs allowed on nine hits through six innings of work. Paul Goldschmidt took Nova deep twice in this game for his ninth and 10th home runs of the season.

Nova left with a lead, but Hurdle called on Daniel Hudson to pitch the eighth inning, but Hudson quickly loaded the bases and Wade LeBlanc walked in Jeff Mathis for the game-tying run. The game remained tied until the 10th inning when Osuna belted his second home run of his young career.

Andrew McCutchen and Josh Bell each homered earlier in the game as the Bucs built a 4-2 lead. Bell leads the team with seven home runs in 2017.

The Pirates are off Monday (their only off day in May) before returning to PNC Park Tuesday to begin a six-game homestand with three games each against the Nationals and Phillies. Chad Kuhl is slated to start Tuesday night at 7:05 against Nats starter Stephen Strasburg.
