Pirates-Astros

Today, the Pirates return to McKechnie Field to take on the Houston Astros at 1:05PM. It looks to be sunny with a game temperature of 79º. The game will also be broadcasted on MLB.TV.

Free agent signee, Juan Nicasio, will take the mound for his first action of Spring. Juan is coming off of a season where he pitched 58 innings to a tune of a 3.86 ERA. He averaged 10 K’s per nine innings, but also saw his walk rate jump almost two batters per nine for a total of 4.9 walks per nine innings. Here is hoping for some of that Uncle Ray magic.

Yesterday, the Pirates starters were pretty lethargic to say the least. Pittsburgh will feature a lineup today with a mix of starters and bench players as well, so lets hope it’s a bit better this go around.

The Astros will be sending a split squad to Bradenton for this game. Brad Peacock to start off the game and we will get to see the likes of George Springer, Carlos Correa, and top first base prospect, A.J. Reed. Houston has quickly rebuilt this franchise and many people are foreseeing them to win the division.
