Today the Pirates take on the Twins once again at CenturyLink Sports Complex. Game time is set at 1:05PM.
For today’s game, the ‘Lobsters’ Kyle Lobstein will take the mound. Lobstein has had an impressive spring tossing seven shutout innings. He’s allowed a .167 batting average and totaled 6 strikeouts. Today will allow him another showcase to possibly battle for a spot on the 25 man.
The lineup today is quite – blah! It’s safe to say that the Pirates were given a day off before Easter. If you are not a deep rooted fan who thoroughly enjoys seeing any type of Pirates game, or really enjoys seeing the how the depth of this team plays out, this game isn’t for you. At any rate, it has just as much meaning to the organization as any other game.
Matt Joyce has started to pick it up a bit after a miserable start to spring. He is battling it out for a roster spot to be the last outfielder. Along with Joyce, Florimon, Figueroa, and Goebbert all have to show something to separate themselves as worthy candidates for a spot on the opening day roaster.
Kyle Gibson will be the starting pitcher for the Twins. In 11.2 innings, Gibson holds a 2.31 ERA. This should be a good test for today’s lineup.
