Friday at 8 pm was the official MLB deadline for teams to decide whether or not to tender a contract to any salary arbitration eligible player. The Pirates decided to tender everyone but Hunter Stratton and Osvaldo Bido. Those players are now officially free agents able to sign with any team.
Though those two names probably don’t draw a ton of interest to most Pirates fans, there were some names out there that weren’t tendered a contract and are now free to sign with any team, including the Pirates. A big name like Brandon Woodruff was made available as well as a couple of former top prospects in Nick Senzel and Kyle Lewis. So, let’s take a look around at some of the names and see if there is a potential match and reason for the Pirates to be interested.
