According to a source, the Pittsburgh Pirates have signed free agent OF Gilberto Celestino to a minor league deal. Jason Mackey of the Post-Gazette also confirms the news.
Celestino, 24, played 145 games, for the Minnesota Twins between 2021 and 2022 before being waived in October this past year.
The primary CF ranked as high as #10 on the Twins prospect lists back in 2021, according to Baseball America. Defense is his calling card, as the bat has yet to show itself at the MLB level.
