The Pirate were defeated by the Orioles today at Ed Smith stadium by a final score of 9-8.
The game started off with fireworks. Oneil Cruz singled and stole second base. Following a pair of outs, Rowdy Tellez was able to draw a walk, bringing Henry Davis to the plate. Davis proceeded to crush a 3-run homerun to give the Pirates the lead. In the top of the 3rd the Pirates continued their recent homerun tear, with Ke’Bryan Hayes hitting a opposite field shot. Cruz followed with an RBI single in the 4th inning, after a slight injury scare going after a flyball in the bottom of the 3rd. The Pirates were then held scoreless until the top of the 7th when RBI singles by Jack Brannigan and Termarr Johnson gave the Pirates back the lead. Gilberto Celestino padded the lead in the ninth with an RBI groundout.

Skenes pitched one inning in his debut, easily taking care of the side, including Holliday and Rutschman. Skenes topped out at 102 MPH on his fastball during his outing. Bailey Falter followed Skenes, he pitched two innings giving up a pair of solo homeruns. He was followed by Ryan Borucki and Carmen Mlodzinski who both pitched scoreless innings. Colin Selby came into the game in the 6th and continued his spring troubles, giving up 3 earned runs in his inning of work. This was followed by scoreless innings by Thomas Harrington and Anthony Solometo . In the ninth Connor Sadzeck came into the game and was unable to close it out, giving up four runs and getting credited with the loss.

The Pirates will be back at it tomorrow at home in Bradenton against the Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 PM. The game will be televised on SportsNet Pittsburgh, expected starters are Mitch Keller and Jacob Lopez.
