The Pirates reassigned pitching prospects Anthony Solometo (#4 Pirates prospect according to MLB.com), Bubba Chandler (#5), Tom Harrington (#6) to minor league camp this afternoon.

Pirate fans will be interested to see where all of these prospects start the season. Solometo and Chandler both finished 2023 in Double-A, while Harrington finished in High-A.

Jackson Wolf (#10 prospect) has been optioned to Double-A Altoona.

All four pitchers will leave major league camp with some momentum. They all pitched exactly one inning, and will leave with a cumulative ERA of 0.00.

Jackson Wolf made his MLB debut for the San Diego Padres in 2023. He and Anthony Solometo will be fighting to make their Pirates’ debuts this year.

I expected Wolf to start in Triple-A Indianapolis, and these options aren’t set in stone, however general manager Ben Cherington has shown that prospects in Altoona can be just as close to the big leagues as Indianapolis.

Stay tuned for more of these cuts in the coming days.

The Pirates will take on the Blue Jays tomorrow at 1:05pm. Another where another top-5 prospect, Jared Jones, gets the start.
