It’s no secret that the Pirates are putting out smash hit after smash hit this spring: they lead MLB in spring training home runs. But like many great acts before them, the Pirates are finally splitting up.
Following a day off, the Pirates play their first split-squad action in the Grapefruit League. The Pirates host the Minnesota Twins in Bradenton, FL and travel to North Port, FL to face the Atlanta Braves. Pirates fans are in luck: the home match-up against Minnesota will be broadcast locally on Sportsnet Pittsburgh.
Martin Perez takes the bump in Bradenton and will start opposite Twins righty Louie Varland. The Pirates lineup features most regulars, but Tsung-Che Cheng gets the start at second base.
In North Port, Marco Gonzales will start for the Pirates, and Braves ace Max Fried faces the Pirates. Lineups are posted in MLB Gameday. The Atlanta broadcast will be carried on MLB.TV.
