The Pittsburgh Pirates announced a number of roster moves after the game this afternoon.
Optioning Colin Selby will come as no surprise. He did not pitch well last season in the opportunities he was give, and have been even worse this spring. Canaan Smith-Njigba might be a surprise for some, but it really shouldn’t be. He has hit 3 home runs this spring, but only had two other hits. He has not impressed enough to break north with the team.
Optioning Tsung-Che Cheng was also going to happen sooner rather than later, we will see him again Thursday in the Breakout game.
Same goes for Termarr Johnson and Jack Brannigan, both will be in Thursday’s game and neither was expected to be with the team at the end of Spring Training.
The Pirates also made the signing of Eric Lauer official, it has been previously reported he had a locker at Bradenton already. Therefore we should see him in game action within the next week as he begins to workout.
