The Pirates fell to 11-15 on the Spring, losing to the Blue Jays 3-2 at LECOM Park. Bailey Falter gave up 3 runs off two home runs in the 1st inning. He threw 2.2 painless inning a after the 1st, but the damage had already been done.
The rest of the Pirate pitchers threw well. David Bednar was a little rusty but got through a scoreless inning. Ryan Borucki looked dominant in his one inning of work. Jose Hernandez, Josh Fleming and Roansy Contreras all through good innings as well.
The offense was anemic, Bryan Reynolds homered in the 4th, which accounted for the only Pirates hit until the 8th inning. Pirates had men on 2nd and 3rd in the 8th but were unable to push a run across. Jared Triolo led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run. However, the Pirates were unable to score again.
The Pirates return to action tomorrow against the Baltimore Orioles. The game will be at 6:05 PM at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota FL. Jared Jones will pitch for the Pirates with Corbin Burnes going for the Orioles.
