Red Sox – Brayan Bello (2-1, 3.92 ERA)
Pirates – Quinn Priester (Season Debut)

While the Pirates started the season hot with a 9-2 record, they’ve gone 2-6 since their high water mark and slid to third place in the National League Central. With Marco Gonzales on the injured list, the Pirates are calling up Quinn Priester for a spot start against the Red Sox.

In three AAA starts for Indianapolis, Priester has thrown 13.2 innings and compiled a 3.95 ERA, surrendering 12 hits and five walks against 20 strikeouts.

The Pirates aren’t the only team looking to right the ship with this series–the Red Sox are scuffling after losing SS Trevor Story for the season due to a shoulder injury. Star third baseman Rafael Devers is also injured, taking things day-to-day with a bone bruise. Between the injuries and other gaps, the lineup for Boston’s 4/18 game drew consternation among Red Sox Nation:

Quite the hodgepodge of a lineup.
