Probable Starters:
Red Sox – Josh Winckowski (1-1, 4.63 ERA)
Pirates – Martin Perez (1-0, 2.55 ERA)

The Pirates enter today on a five-game losing streak, and they hope Martin Perez can put a stop to the skid. Pérez has been quite good each time out so far this season, highlighted by an 8-inning gem against the Tigers, which ended in a no decision.

Not the typical “Sunday lineup” from Derek Shelton, perhaps showing how importance of a win today. The last week has seen the Pirates fall from 1st to 4th place in the NL Central. Far too early to be watching the standings, but every game will count come September.

The Red Sox will throw an opener today in the form of Josh Winckowski. Winckowski has always been an arm who can provide length in the Red Sox bullpen, so if he cruises through the first inning or more, they could ask him to keep going.

Henry Davis sits for the second consecutive day. He may be getting a few necessary days off.

Former friend Tyler Heineman will DH for the Red Sox today.
