Not many positives to write home about today. Martin Perez was okay, but struggled with his command which caused traffic on the basepaths all game, and the Red Sox made him pay.
The Pirates have now lost six straight, and 9 of their last 11. Overall, they are just not playing the kind of baseball necessary to win ballgames.
The Bucs committed 2 more errors today, which really encapsulates the type of sloppy baseball they have been playing.
Aside from the porous defense, the Pirates got thrown out at second base twice and handed out six walks. When the offense is struggling (6 total runs in 5 games), you can’t give away free passes, or free outs.
Getting swept by a Boston team with no Rafael Devers or Tyler O’Neill was not on my bingo card. Now the Pirates are forced to look in the mirror.
I could be here all day writing about things that made me upset during this game, but I will choose to look forward to the four game series against the Brewers.
The Pirates will send Jared Jones to the hill tomorrow, maybe the perfect combination of stuff and personality to put a stop to this bad baseball.
As always, joins fellow Pirates fans in the North Shore Nine Discord.
