The Pirates moved to 13-11 after defeating the Brewers 2-1 at PNC Park. Andrew McCutchen again homered to start the game. The Pirates also got a great start for the second night in a row this time from Bailey Falter. The Brewers made some noise late but were unable to overcome the home team.

In the top of the 1st Bailey Falter again looked good striking out two. In the bottom of the first, Cutch happens! Andrew McCutchen hit a first pitch laser beam home run into the left field bleachers. Falter again had a very quick second. Pirates threatened with back to back singles in the second with two outs by Oneil Cruz and Joey Bart. However, Michael A. Taylor popped out to end the threat.

Falter ran into some trouble at the top of the 3rd but was able to use crafty pitching and good defense to get out of it. He then breezed through the 4th and 5th without any issues or struggles. The Pirates were unable to do anything offensively in those innings either so the score remained 1-0 Pirates. 6th started the same with a quick inning from Falter. The bottom of the frame saw back to back singles by the Pirates. Derek Shelton then went to the bench bringing in Connor Joe for Rowdy Tellez versus the lefty Brewer pitcher. Joe had a very professional at bat, that lead to a hard hit single to left scoring one and making it 2-0 Pirates. This was followed by back to back fly outs to center from Jack Suwinski and Jared Triolo. Oneil Cruz ended the threat with a chopper hit over 2nd base.

Bailey Falter came back out for the 7th, and finished off his night with another easy inning. He came out once again for the eight, but was pulled after giving up a lead off home run to Gary Sanchez. He ended his giving up 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks while striking out 8 Brewers. Colin Holderman came on to relieve Falter and was able to get out of the rest of the inning. Pirates were unable to add in the bottom of the 8th, leading to David Bednar for the 9th. Bednar of old showed up, a nice 1-2-3 inning and the Pirates closed out the win.

The Pirates return to action tomorrow against the Brewers. The game will be at 6:40 PM at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA. Quinn Priester will pitch for the Pirates with Bryse Wilson going for the Brewers.
