The Pittsburgh Pirates fail to win the “Bullpen” game losing to the Brewers 3-2. The offense was again an issue only managing four hits over nine innings.
The Brewers got on the board 1st in the top of the 3rd, scoring first on a William Contreras single. They followed that up with a pair of bases loaded walks from Luis Ortiz who had followed Josh Fleming. Fortunately, Ortiz was able to strike out Joey Ortiz to end the pain of the 3rd. Pirates fought back in the bottom of the 3rd, a Connor Joe walk and a Bryan Reynolds homerun cut the lead to 3-2. Oritz was able to get through the 4th without a run coming across, even after putting men on the corners with two outs.
The 5th and 6th went most the same for both teams with neither being able to add to the score board. The game continued to go that way with few base runners and no runs across until the bottom of the 9th. In the bottom of the 9th, Jack Suwinski struck out looking to start the frame. Edward Olivares followed with a infield single bring up Oneil Cruz. Who promptly would have popped out until the Brewers bobbled the easy out allowing men on 1st and 2nd with one out. Jared Triolo took the first pitch to RF for an out, bringing up Andrew McCutchen with two on and two out down by a run. Cutch struck out to end the game and the short winning streak.

The Pirates return to action tomorrow against the Brewers. The game will be at 12:35 PM at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA. Mitch Keller will pitch for the Pirates with Freddy Peralta going for the Brewers.
