Martin Perez started the game strong for the Pirates, before struggling in the 6th inning. Ryan McMahon opened the scoring in this inning, pulling a 445-foot home run over the Clemente Wall. The Rockies went on to tally two more runs in the 6th. Perez’s final line included 5.1 innings pitched and three earned runs.

Cal Quantrill provided 7.2 innings of shutout ball for the Rockies, becoming the latest pitcher to mow down the Pirates’ lineup.

Offensively, the Pirates continue to struggle. The team tallied ten strikeouts, including nine at the hands of Quantrill. The Bucs finally got on the board in the 9th inning, as Oneil Cruz crushed a two-run home run to right field. However, they failed to generate another run to tie the game.

The Pirates will look to avoid a six-game losing streak tomorrow, as Jared Jones takes the mound against Austin Gomber. The game will begin at 4:05 P.M.

The Pirates have not won a series since the opening homestand against the Orioles. That series ended on April 7. With a loss tomorrow, the Pirates will reach a streak of at least a month without a series win.
