Today’s game began with a scary moment in the top of the first as Ronald Acuna Jr. left with an apparent left leg injury after doubling to lead off the game.

Tough situation for one of the best players in baseball. You may remember Acuña tore his right ACL in July of 2021. ‘

Joey Bart and Martin Perez both would also leave this game due to injury.

The Pirates scored to take a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning as Yasmani Grandal singled to drive in Edward Olivares.

Chris Sale would then begin to settle in for the Braves, striking out eight over seven innings. Sale only surrendered the one run on four hits and one walk.

This game got out of hand rather quickly after Martin Perez was forced to leave with injury. Matt Olson doubled in the 5th inning and homered in the 8th, collecting 3 RBI.

Aroldis Chapman looked really bad again today, surrendering two homers and three hits total in just one inning of work.

Kyle Nicolas pitched the 9th, also giving up three hits and two runs, giving the Braves an 8-1 lead that they would not relinquish.

Ugly ending to the three game set, but an impressive series victory nonetheless. The Bucs will embark on a 5-game road trip, first to Detroit for two games and then across the border to Toronto for three.
