Bailey Falter was the recipient of a tough luck no-decision tonight, because he was fantastic yet again. Falter cruised through six innings of work, allowing just four baserunners while striking out five.
He got a fantastic assist from Bryan Reynolds in left field, cutting down what would’ve been a leadoff double.
The Pirates got the scoring started in the 5th when Andrew McCutchen singled in Nick Gonzales.
That run looked like it could prove decisive, until the 7th inning, where former Pirate Daniel Vogelbach hit a fly ball to center field that Ji Hwan Bae seemed to lose in the lights or the Rodgers Centre roof. That double would score George Springer.
Chapman would throw a clean 8th, Bednar a clean 9th, and Stratton stranded the ghost runner in the 10th.
In the top of the 11th, Ji Hwan Bae scored on a Bryan Reynolds sacrifice fly, on what was one of the best catches you’ll see by George Springer.
Hunter Stratton came back out for the bottom half of the 11th, where George Springer would single in their ghost runner to tie the game right back up.
In the top of the 12th, the teams would trade sacrifice flies and head to the 13th.
Carmen Mlodzinski danced through some raindrops in the bottom of the 13th, but Davis Schneider would end this game in the bottom of the 14th with a 2-run homer.
Pirates will be back in action tomorrow at 3:07pm against these same Blue Jays.
