The Pirates and Twins found themselves in a pitchers duel for most of Saturday afternoon.

Simeon Woods Richardson put on a show for the majority of the contest. Richardson would finish with a line of 6.1IP, 6H, 1R/ER, 6K.

The Pirates countered with a fantastic pitching performance of their own, using Carmen Mlodzinski as an opener and Luis Ortiz afterwards to combine for six scoreless innings.

The story of this game came in the bottom of the 7th inning, when Rowdy Tellez hit his second home run of the year, breaking the deadlock and giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead.

This drew chants of “Row-dy” from the crowd, as well as a curtain call from the Pirates first baseman. Rowdy has heard, and deserved his fair share of criticism, but this was a great moment to see. He delivered in a big spot, and the fans rewarded him.

Rowdy went on to collect two more RBI in the 9th inning off of Jhoan Duran of all people.

Holderman and Bednar were their usual selves, and the Pirates shut out the Twins for the second consecutive day.

The Pirates will go for the sweep tomorrow at 1:35pm, with Jared Jones taking the hill.
