The Pirates bats were alive for the second straight day, scoring 12 runs in a 12-2 rout of the Brewers.
The Pirates got out to an early 2-0 as Bryan Reynolds hit a 3rd inning 2-run homer. However, in the bottom of half of the inning, the Brewers tied it back up. The game remained tied 2-2 until the top of the 6th inning.
The Pirates took control of the game in the top of the 6th inning. They grabbed a 4-2 lead off RBI singles from Nick Gonzales and Jack Suwinski. Then, Joey Bart blew the game open with a grand slam.
In the 8th inning, the Pirates added some more insurance. Suwinski hit a solo home run to lead off the inning. Then, Joshua Palacios blasted a two-run moonshot to right field. That makes two home runs in his last two games.
On the mound, Quinn Priester provided 6 innings of two-run ball. This was his first MLB start since his injury earlier in the season. Josh Fleming and Dennis Santana also pitched.
The Pirates are back in action tomorrow night at 8:10 P.M. ET, looking to secure a series win against the Brewers. Martin Perez will take the mound for the Bucs.
This road trip is huge for the Pirates, taking on the division-leading Brewers then the lowly Chicago White Sox. How they perform will go a long way in determining whether they are buyers or sellers at the trade deadline.
