Ben Cherington made his first trade of the 2024 deadline, sending Quinn Priester to the Boston Red Sox for 22-year-old infield prospect Nick Yorke. MLB has Yorke as the Red Sox 6th best prospect with Fangraphs ranking him at 13th. He was taken in the 1st round of the 2020 draft. This season Yorke has spent 45 games in AA and 38 in AAA. At AAA he has hit .310/.408/.490 with a .898 OPS, 8 doubles, 6 home runs while stealing 6 bases.

Priester has struggled for the Pirates at the Major League level over the last two seasons. In his 20 games and 14 starts he has a 6.46 ERA a 1.585 WHIP and a 5.82 FIP. Priester has pitched better in AAA and it yet to be seen where he will fit for the Red Sox.
