Ben Cherinton got his outfielder, Bryan De La Cruz comes to the Pittsburgh Pirates as Miami continues to dismantle their team. De La Cruz comes with three years of control and this year is hitting .245/.289/.417 with a .707 OPS with 18 home runs and 19 doubles on the season. He has played primarily LF in his career with some RF and limited CF.
Going back to Miami in the deal is Jun-Seok Shim and Garret Forrester. They are currently sitting at 17th and 18th on the Pipeline top 30 for the Pirates, whereas FanGraphs has them at 30th and unranked.
This appears to be a slam dunk deal for the Pirates. They get a OF with pop for two good but replaceable prospects. This might not be the only deal either today so stay tuned.
