The Pittsburgh Pirates made a minor move today acquiring Josh Walker who was recently DFA by the New York Mets. He has not pitched in a game for the Mets since June 1st of this year. In the Majors he has not pitched well, however in AAA this year he has pitched very good.

Until a return is reported this appears a depth trade with Josh Fleming leaving for free agency after his DFA last week. It could also serve as the 2nd lefty for the Pirates bullpen if the original lefty is dealt.

Update: It is being reported that the Met will receive 18-year-old Nicolas Carreno of the DSL. In 8 starts in the DSL this year Carreno was 0-1 with a 3.74 ERA over 8 starts, he struck out 36 and walked 17 over 21.2 innings.
