In a short flurry of moves Ben Cherington has added yet another useful piece to the Pittsburgh Pirates big league roster. This time adding Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the Toronto Blue Jays where he was filled in as a super utility player. He is currently in year one of a two year $15 million dollar contract. So far this season he is hitting .292/.338/.420 with a .758 OPS he has also struck 8 doubles and 7 home runs in 281 plate appearances. He can play across the entire infield as well as the outfield with 1B being the only position he has yet to play in the majors (This includes Pitcher and Catcher as well).
Going back to Toronto in the deal is rising minor leaguer Charles McAdoo the Pipeline 29th best prospect in the Pirates system. McAdoo has had a terrific season and rise through the Pirates system and was becoming loved by many fans.
This is a good deal for the Pirates adding a controllable asset for this year and next. McAdoo was fun to watch but sadly he was expendable with the strength of the Pirate farm system.
