The Pittsburgh Pirates came back to win Game 2, 6-5. Timely hitting and a good bullpen was the difference for the Pirates tonight.

Bailey Falter looked good, minus one pitch, in the first where he gave up a solo shot to Tyler Stephenson. Falter got through the 2nd unscathed. However, the Pirates failed to get a hit in either inning, so it remained 1-0 going into the 3rd inning. Falter let a few on in the Top of the 3rd, but played Houdini and got out of it without a run given up. Pirates went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the frame, as the offense once again struggled.
Things got away from Falter in the in the 4th as he gave up 4 more runs to go down 5-0. A single, double, pair of sacrifices, followed by a pair of singles and a run down accounted for the four. Pirates failed to answer in the bottom half. In the 5th the Pirates kept the Reds from adding on, bringing about the bottom of the frame. There the Pirates led off with singles by Joey Bart and Rowdy Tellez before Bryan De La Cruz hit yet another double, cutting the lead to 5-1. Billy McKinney then followed it up with an RBI groundout to pull it 5-2. Jared Triolo followed it up with an RBI single of his own cutting the lead further to 5-3. Ji Hwan Bae then got aboard via a fielders choice gone wrong. Pirates then pulled within one run on a Isiah Kiner-Falefa ground out, leaving one out left in the frame. However, Bryan Reynolds flew out to end the frame.
Dennis Santana came on to pitch the 6th for the Pirates. Throwing a 1-2-3 inning, pitching very well once again since his addition to the Pirates. Oneil Cruz then began the bottom of the frame with a ground-rule double. Bart then followed that up with an RBI single to tie the game a 5. Tellez then hit another single pushing Bart to 3rd with no outs. De La Cruz then gave the Pirates their first lead with a sac-fly to center field. A McKinney strikeout and a Trilo pop out ended the frame.
Santana came back out to pitch the 7th, throwing a 1-2-3 frame. In the bottom of the frame with two outs Reynolds hit a single with two outs. However, even after a Reynolds steal of second base and Cruz earning a walk, Bart flew out to centerfield. Aroldis Chapman came on to pitch the 8th for the Pirates, striking out Elly De La Cruz to start the frame. He followed that up with a strikeout of Tyler Stephenson, then a walk of Spencer Steer. This was followed up by a Ty France single, putting men on 1st and 3rd with two outs. Chapman though then struck out Stuart Fairchild to end the frame and maintain the lead for the Pirates. They failed to add-om brining in David Bednar for the 9th and the save. Which he was able to heling the Pirates secure their win

The Pirates will be back in action tomorrow again with a 6:40 PM start against the Reds. Cincy will throw the TBD pitcher of their choice the Pirates will throw Jake Woodford. However, do not be surprised if you end up hearing Jared Jones music WWE style instead.
