The Pirates followed up an offensive outburst with a thud, getting blanked 3–0 by the Nationals in a game that looked all too familiar. Mitch Keller delivered a quality start, but even three earned runs proved too steep a mountain for Pittsburgh’s feeble offense. The Pirates managed just four hits—two of them from Jack Suwinski, of all people—and failed to get anything going against Jake Irvin, who suddenly turned into Greg Maddux for a day.
Meanwhile, defensive miscues piled up, communication broke down (again), and the outfield resembled a blooper reel more than a professional unit. Even the bullpen—featuring Ryan Borucki, Kyle Nicolas, and Tim Mayza—was rock solid, but the bats just didn’t show.
The North Shore Nine crew breaks it all down with their trademark mix of sarcasm, frustration, and reluctant realism—plus they cap the night with a ticket giveaway for Paul Skenes Bobblehead Day.
