The Pirates finally gave fans something to cheer about in Anaheim, crushing the Angels 9-3 in a rare offensive explosion. The bats came alive with 18 hits—yes, 18—highlighted by Andrew McCutchen’s three-run bomb that opened the floodgates. Seven different Pirates had multi-hit nights, with Tommy Pham and Isiah Kiner-Falefa both notching three hits apiece. Bailey Falter pitched decently before exiting with back tightness, and the bullpen took it from there, tossing five scoreless innings to slam the door shut. Chase Shugart impressed again in relief, while Dennis Santana continued to make his case as the team’s new closer. It was a game where even the errors broke in Pittsburgh’s favor. Can they build off it? That’s the question. But for now, we celebrate with sandwiches.
