The Pirates found another way to lose on Friday, dropping a 2–1 heartbreaker to the Padres at PNC Park despite a brilliant outing from Bailey Falter. The lefty went seven strong innings, allowing just two hits and one run, but was let down by sloppy late-game defense and an offense that failed to capitalize on multiple opportunities. David Bednar was tagged with the loss after a costly ninth-inning sequence involving a steal, a wild pitch, and a questionable defense from Joey Bart.

Offensively, the Bucs managed six hits—all off starter Randy Vasquez—and drew eight walks but scored just once, courtesy of an Oneil Cruz 118-mph RBI single. Cruz reached base five times, but the rest of the lineup couldn’t deliver in the clutch, stranding ten runners and failing to register a hit off the Padres bullpen.

The postgame crew of Tyler and Neil vented frustrations and praised Falter’s gem, while also lamenting yet another winnable game slipping away.
