The Pirates dropped yet another heartbreaker, falling 4-3 to the Mets on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Pete Alonso. Despite a gritty six-inning, one-run outing from Paul Skenes, the offense once again failed to capitalize. Pittsburgh has now scored four or fewer runs in 19 straight games—their worst stretch ever. Alexander Canario and IKF tried to provide sparks, but costly defensive miscues and another brutal night from Bryan Reynolds (0-for-5) sank any chance of a win. The ninth inning featured a botched double play from Lindor, a perfectly executed sac bunt from Henry Davis, and a Reynolds double-play to kill the rally. Bednar took the loss, but the real culprit remains the lifeless offense.
