Saturday’s North Shore Nine Postgame Show, powered by Primanti Bros, saw Tyler and Ryan trying to make sense of another uninspired showing from the Pittsburgh Pirates—this time a lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

With Zach Wheeler on the mound for Philly, the game felt over before it even began. The Pirates failed to score in the top of the first, and the Phillies struck immediately in the bottom half. From there, the Bucs never recovered.

“Wheeler was on tonight,” Ryan said. “But honestly, he’s been on all season.” The right-hander stifled the Pirates offense, allowing just three hits, walking one, and striking out six over a dominant outing. It was another mismatch for a team that simply doesn’t have the bats to compete with elite arms.

Despite some lineup changes—including the return of Spencer Horwitz, a start for Oneil Cruz, and Nick Solak getting into the mix—the Pirates’ offensive output remained the same. “Same results, Ryan,” Tyler said bluntly.

Cruz, making his first start in over a week, couldn’t provide a spark, and the rest of the order fared no better. Even the addition of new faces didn’t change the narrative.

Ryan summed it up best: “It’s just more of the same with this offense… they’re so bad.”
