The Pirates put together one of their most complete efforts of the season Saturday night, blanking the Padres 5-0 in San Diego. Bailey Falter was the story once again, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings to wrap up a sensational May in which he posted a 0.76 ERA—one of the best single-month marks by a Pirates pitcher in the modern era. Offensively, the Bucs got contributions across the board with multi-hit games from Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds, and Andrew McCutchen, who also launched his fourth homer of the season. The top of the order finally clicked, the bullpen was efficient, and the Pirates never let San Diego get comfortable.
