The Pirates finally gave fans something to cheer about, breaking out for 15 hits in an 8–3 win over the Rangers. It didn’t start pretty—Bailey Falter struggled with command—but strong defense and a relentless offensive push turned things around. Spencer Horwitz delivered a three-hit game, Ke’Bryan Hayes showed up on both sides of the ball, and Tommy Pham doubled twice in what can only be described as a “legacy game.” Bryan Reynolds added three hits of his own, and the bullpen—Ferguson, Santana, and a dominant David Bednar—shut it down from there. For once, the Pirates didn’t need elite pitching to win—they just needed competence at the plate.
Is it sustainable? Probably not. But for one day, the lineup did exactly what it was supposed to.
