For the second straight day, the Pirates couldn’t hold a lead. Coming off last night’s 17–16 loss where they gave up a nine-run advantage, they dropped another one this afternoon after being up 4–0 early.

Liover Peguero was the clear bright spot, launching three home runs and driving in all four of Pittsburgh’s runs. Outside of him, the offense was quiet — only three players recorded hits on the day.

Paul Skenes worked five innings, allowing four runs while relying heavily on his fastball. He left with the game tied, but the bullpen couldn’t keep it there, and the offense had no answers the rest of the way.

It’s another frustrating result in a game that felt winnable. Peguero’s performance was one to remember, but without more production throughout the lineup, the Pirates continue to struggle to close games out.
