Paul Skenes delivered another dominant outing Tuesday night, throwing six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts as the Pirates blanked the Reds 7 to 0 at PNC Park. He gave up a career-high seven hits but walked none, lowering his ERA to a ridiculous 1.94. It was his 24th start of the season, surpassing last year’s total, and he still looks untouchable.

The offense came to life too. Bryan Reynolds opened the scoring with a solo homer in the first, his first since late June. Henry Davis finally broke through with a two-hit night and a long-overdue home run. Even Oneil Cruz showed signs of life at the plate.

With Ke’Bryan Hayes returning to Pittsburgh as an opponent, Jared Triolo continued to make his case as the everyday guy, logging two hits while starting at shortstop.

A dominant win, an ace on the mound, and real glimpses of what the future could be.
