The Pirates managed 16 hits and 5 walks against the Reds, but it still wasn’t enough in a 14-8 loss that saw the bullpen completely unravel. Mike Burrows gave Pittsburgh five innings, but one rough frame set him back. Once the relievers took over, the game spiraled — Yohan Ramirez, Dauri Moreta, and Cam Sanders combined to allow 10 runs, turning a tie game into another frustrating defeat.

Offensively, the Pirates had traffic on the bases all afternoon but went just 4-for-18 with runners in scoring position. The lack of power was glaring once again, as the Reds used three home runs to produce eight of their runs while Pittsburgh left 12 on base.

Adding to the frustration, key bats like Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds continued to underperform, a trend that’s crippled the offense for much of the season.
