The Pirates picked up a rare but sweet road win at Wrigley, edging out the Cubs 3-2 in a game that had a little bit of everything. On the latest North Shore Nine Postgame Show, Jim and Doug broke it all down, starting with Braxton Ashcraft’s impressive five-inning start. Ashcraft allowed just one run on three hits, showing command and poise while continuing to make his case as a future rotation piece.

The offense wasn’t pretty, but Andrew McCutchen got the scoring started with an RBI double, and Jared Triolo chipped in with a pair of hits, a stolen base, and a key defensive play. The real difference came in the ninth, when Chicago native Jack Suwinski turned around a 101 mph fastball for the game-winning homer. Isaac Mattson worked out of a bases-loaded jam, and Dennis Santana closed it down with some help from Triolo and the Cubs’ mistakes on the bases.
