North Shore Nine

The Pirates wrapped up their series in Boston with a frustrating 5–2 loss to the Red Sox, and Jim and Cody broke it all down on the latest NS9 Postgame Show powered by Primanti Bros. Mitch Keller once again looked the part of an ace, tossing five innings with seven strikeouts and no earned runs. Unfortunately, his defense let him down as errors and sloppy play led to four unearned runs, including a disastrous inside-the-park homer that flipped the game.

Offensively, the Bucs couldn’t cash in when it mattered most. They went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position, and Henry Davis’ struggles at the plate continued despite the defensive strides he’s made behind the dish. Alexander Canario was one of the few bright spots, notching two hits and blasting a homer over the Green Monster.

The loss spoiled a sweep opportunity, but the Pirates still took two of three in Boston. Next up, they’ll return home for a tough matchup with the Dodgers.
