Well…the bullpen was rested heading into the season. Not anymore though after a rough Opening Day.

Paul Skenes had the shortest outing of his career with just 0.2 innings which lead to a parade of six relievers that ran the pitch counts up there…

There were a ton of walks from everyone (nine total) and only Yohan Ramirez, Gregory Soto and Dennis Santana didn’t allow runs. Mason Montgomery had a rough outing with three walks and two runs allowed in 1.1 innings and Isaac Mattson‘s 2026 campaign got out to a tough start as he walked two, gave up three hits and two earned runs in just 0.2 innings. Justin Lawrence also gave up two runs leading to some inflated ERAs after one game.

If you’re looking for some good news, Santana got into the game and was his usual self. He walked one, but had a scoreless inning on 18 pitches. Yesterday wasn’t a great start for the Department of Pitching Efficiency (DOPE), but Santana at least looked good.

Thank goodness for the off day today as Don Kelly was able to empty the clip yesterday to get through the game. We’ll be back tomorrow with an updated bullpen breakdown and a quick look at Game 2’s starter Mitch Keller.
