It’s been a busy past 24 hours for the Pittsburgh Pirates but maybe not quite in the way most fans would have hoped for. First, the Pirates made their first MLB Free Agent move last night by signing 1B/DH Rowdy Tellez for a 1-year $3.2 million deal.
Secondly, almost right after the news broke that Rowdy signed, it was reported then confirmed that Endy Rodriguez underwent Tommy John Surgery to repair a torn UCL he injured while playing Winter Ball this offseason.
Lastly, the Pirates finally resolved their TV situation and have officially decided to fade the MLB pathway and instead have become joint owners of SportsNet Pittsburgh with the Pittsburgh Penguins. What exactly does this mean? Well, let’s dissect it a bit.
