North Shore Nine

After waiting almost 3 weeks, we finally have an official move announcing Martin Perez as the newest Pirate.

To make room for him on the roster, RHP Max Kranick has been designated for assignment.

Kranick, 26, is coming off Tommy John Surgery that cost him most of 2022 and 2023. He was also out of options heading into 2024, which is likely a reason why he is the casualty here. However, because of those two reasons, I think he has a pretty decent shot at clearing waivers.

I always liked Kranick, and he seemed to have pretty good stuff, especially when utilized out of the bullpen. Going through a tough injury like he did in his age 24 season as he’s just cracking the majors is just awful timing. Like I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of him.
