I remember the day Dinardo mentioned reviving the blog.

“I’m not going to write a damn thing.”

That was my thought process. I’m not a writer. You can tell.

Dinardo wouldn’t let it go.

“Okay, I’ll write some sarcastic blogs, maybe share some thoughts on gambling when the season comes. Show that I can contribute something toward the organization.”

That was a fun thought. The Pirates signed Aroldis Chapman to a 1 year $10.5M deal. I feel like I need to give real thoughts now.

I hate Aroldis Chapman. I don’t think there’s a place for him in Major League Baseball. I believe in redemption, I really do. I think people can become better. I think it should be done outside of professional sports.

I know too many women who have been affected by this. I can’t say on a blog what I think should happen to those offenders, but I think you can read between the lines.

The penalties for domestic violence aren’t nearly harsh enough. Most offenders get away with a slap on the wrist through intimidation, manipulation, and truthfully, flat out incompetence of the justice system.

I don’t want to root for them.

There are different rules for different people. We all know it and understand. If you’re excellent at what you do, you’re given a much longer rope than someone who isn’t as talented. That’s the world we live in.

I don’t have to like it, and I won’t. Chapman was suspended for 30 games during the 2016 season. He allegedly choked his girlfriend and fired 8 shots from his gun. Chapman apologized for use of the gun, per reports.

Aroldis Chapman is a bad person. I don’t want to be forced to root for him.

If you’ve followed North Shore Nine, you would be aware of my thoughts on Ji-Hwan Bae. Bae was suspended in the minor leagues for domestic violence. A court South Korea found Bae guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend on New Years Eve of 2017.

I don’t think Bae deserves to be in Major League Baseball. Unlike Chapman, he’s not good at his job. I can’t squint hard enough to understand why he’s still employed. He’s garbage.

The recent moves lead me to the most recent talk of the town, Trevor Bauer. Everyone has an opinion on Trevor Bauer. I don’t want him near my team. I understand the discourse happening with Bauer. I’ve read the court records. I’ve seen the text messages. I’ve listened to the recorded call. Personally, he’s not a person I want to root for. You can feel how you’d like.

I watch sports for entertainment. I get angry, excited, and apathetic like the rest of you. I’m not telling you how to feel. Your threshold for redemption may be higher than mine. You’re probably a better person than I am.

I’m sure we’re going to discuss these things tomorrow on the live show. I’ll try not to bring up how much I hate these guys every following show.

Go Pirates.
