The Pittsburgh Pirates fall to 11-6 after a 6-3 loss at the hands of the New York Mets. Pirates jumped out to a three run lead in the mid part of the game, but they were unable to hold on for the win.

The first five innings of the game flew by, both Martin Perez and Adrian Houser made relative quick work of the opposing batters. Houser gave up one hit and walked four, while Perez gave up three hits and walked only one.
In the top of the sixth Ke’Bryan Hayes drew a walk, Rowdy Tellez hit into a fielders choice landing Hayes at 2B. Andrew McCutchen then put the Pirates ahead with an RBI single, chasing Houser from the game. Jack Suwinski greeted the new pitcher with a walk, Connor Joe followed that up with an RBI single, moving Suwinski to 3rd base. Jared Triolo then hit a sac-fly to RF to make it 3-0 Pirates.
It unraveled for the Pirates in the bottom of the frame, a number of hard hit balls loaded the bases with one out, a base loaded walk made it 3-1 Pirates. Perez was able to educe a fly out to shallow RF , but yet another error in the outfield, by Joe, allowed a run to score via the error. That was enough for Shelton who pulled Perez brining in Hunter Stratton. Stratton immediately gave up a hard hit double over Connor Joes knotting the game at 3 a piece. Stratton hit the next batter once again loading the bases and bring the 9th man to the plate in the inning for the Mets. Fortunately a ground out to Oneil Cruz kept the game tied going into the 7th inning. The 7th came and went without much pomp or circumstance, bring the game to the 8th inning. Pirates were unable to get their bats off their shoulders and went quietly into that goodnight. The Mets in their half of the 8th did not follow suit. They got to Aroldis Chapman hitting him up for three runs, after the first two scoured making it 5-3 he was run from the game for some comment he made into his glove. Roansy Contreras came in and one inherited runner scored on a failed play at the plate on a grounder to second base. In the top of the 9th the Pirates were once again unable to do anything going down without a fight.

The Pirates return to action tomorrow against the Mets. The game will be at 7:10 PM at Citi Field in Flushing, NY. Jared Jones will pitch for the Pirates with Jose Quintana going for the Phillies.
