I’m just writing to tell you that….we back up. Believe it or not, before all the YouTube shows, postgame shows, podcasts, spring training trips and live tailgates, the North Shore Nine started as a basic, ol’ blog. That was in 2016 when we thought the Pirates would continue making the postseason with ease. Oh, how things have changed over the past 10 years. Well, I’m happy to announce that the NS9 blog is back!
Neil and I are officially re-launching the blog this week while pitchers and catchers report to Bradenton to embark on another season in the sun.
Why relaunch the blog now? To be honest, why not? For one, I enjoy writing and really wanted to get back to writing each day about this team and now seemed like the best time as any. The organization is in a spot where they finally are coming out of a long rebuild and have exciting young pitching including the best pitcher in the game in Paul Skenes, they’re finishing up the best offseason they’ve had in Ben Cherington’s tenure here and the top prospect in the game Konnor Griffin is knocking on the door to Pittsburgh. It should all set up for an entertaining and competitive product on the field. And Neil and I want to be here for the ride to give our thoughts and takes as we follow this team.
So, what can you expect from the blog 2.0? We will be firing out daily posts especially during the season with a bullpen usage writeup in the morning of each game day and after the game, we’ll have our main takeaways from each game. We’ll also have weekly articles like The NS9 Report that will drop every Monday to get you ready for the week in Pirates world. Neil will provide you with a farm report each week during the season so you can stay up to date on what the prospects are doing in the minors. We’ll do a Twitter/X roundup each week that breaks down the week that was in tweets. And of course, we’ll have all the news, transactions and our opinions on all that as it comes.
Before I wrap it up here, I want to tell you what we’re not going to be doing. Just like with our social media accounts and the podcasts, we won’t be breaking news on this blog. That’s just not what NS9 has been about the past 10 years. We are Pirates fans who, for some reason, enjoy covering this team for better or for worse so when news breaks and games are played, we’re going to be here to give you our opinion as always.
If you like our insight, feel free to stick around, check our blog daily and comment to let us know how we’re doing or if you have some thoughts on the team as well, we’d love to hear from you in the comments. We appreciate you all and hope you enjoy the return of the NS9 blog.
