The North Shore Nine crew broke down a big weekend of Pirates Spring Training action, with Paul Skenes and Jared Jones headlining the show. Skenes’ spring debut saw him touching 99 mph, flashing a filthy new cutter, and posting a strong three-inning outing with four strikeouts. The main focus? Efficiency. The Pirates need him to go deeper into games, and he’s working toward that goal.

Jared Jones took the mound Sunday, showing off an improved changeup while mixing in a new two-seamer. Despite some hard contact, he looked sharp and continues to refine his arsenal. The battle for first base is also heating up, with DJ Stewart, Matt Gorski, and Darick Hall making early impressions.

As the Pirates continue to evaluate their roster, key position battles and pitching depth remain focal points. With Andrew Heaney set to debut soon, the rotation competition is ramping up. Stay tuned for more Pirates coverage!
