PNC Park closed its 2025 season with a fireworks show as the Pirates hammered the Athletics 11–0, and DiNardo and Doug had plenty to celebrate on the NS9 Postgame Show Powered by Primanti Bros.
From the very first inning, Pittsburgh’s bats were relentless. Joey Bart and Jared Triolo stole the spotlight, each delivering four-hit performances. Triolo set the tone early with a two-run homer in the second, then added an RBI single and a late double to complete his huge day. Bart matched the energy, capping his night with a towering three-run blast in the fifth and adding a double for good measure. DiNardo couldn’t help himself talking about the way Triolo is finishing his season while Doug highlighted how he is becoming a believer.
The pitching was just as impressive. Mike Burrows set the pace with three scoreless frames, mixing his fastball and slider to keep Oakland quiet. Carmen Mlodzinski followed with two more shutdown innings, marking the second straight game Pittsburgh’s young arms blanked the A’s. DiNardo praised the poise of the staff, while Doug emphasized how consistent outings from Burrows, Mlodzinski, and the rest of the emerging arms are giving this club a real foundation for next season.
With an emphatic 11–0 win and back-to-back shutouts to end the PNC Park slate, the Pirates gave the few fans there a nice sendoff for the 2025 season.
