I like this deal. Gave up nothing of value for a guy that has been good outside of Yankee stadium. The change of scenery may help a lot. He at least has a track record, even if it was a few years ago

Focusing on Skenes velocity is lazy analysis. The issue with Skenes seems to be his off-speed pitches, which have fallen from elite (98th-100th percentile) to well below average (17th percentile) in effectiveness.  It’d be nice to see less about “arm trouble,” and more “his splitter/slider stopped fooling anyone, and the defense behind him hasn’t helped.”
He’s not messed up from the WBC. His pitch selection and sequencing is f’d up. I think he could use a divorce from Henry.
