How we handle your information across the North Shore Nine website and app.

Who we are

North Shore Nine (“NS9,” “we,” “us”) is an independent Pittsburgh Pirates fan-media brand. We are not affiliated with Major League Baseball or the Pittsburgh Pirates. This policy covers northshorenine.com and the North Shore Nine mobile app.

Information we collect

Account info — when you sign up, the email, name, and profile photo you provide (or that your sign-in provider, e.g. Google or Apple, shares with us).
Community content — posts, comments, votes, poll responses, reactions, and any media you upload.
Usage & device data — our own first-party analytics (pages viewed, approximate region, device/browser type, and how you arrived) to understand and improve the product. We do not store your IP address, and we don’t use third-party tracking SDKs.
Notifications — if you opt in, a push-subscription token so we can send the alerts you enabled. You can turn these off at any time.

How we use it

To operate the community (accounts, posts, points, badges, leaderboards), deliver the notifications you opt into, keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and improve the site and app. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors who process data on our behalf: Supabase (accounts, database, storage — also where our first-party analytics live), Vercel (hosting, plus aggregate, privacy-friendly performance metrics), and our sign-in providers. They may only use the data to provide their service to us.

Cookies & tracking

We use the minimum needed to keep you signed in and to gather our own aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics. Those analytics use a first-party identifier (no third-party cookies, no cross-site advertising trackers) and never store your IP address — we derive only an approximate region from it and then discard it.

Do Not Track & analytics choices

Our analytics are first-party and cookie-light, and they honor your browser’s Do Not Track setting — if it’s on, we collect nothing. You can also opt out on this device at any time; we’ll remember your choice and stop collecting analytics events here.
